An Afternoon with People First Dorset

Earlier in the month I spent a few hours with some of the staff and members of People First Dorset, a charity organisation to support people with learning disabilities, helping them connect with others and focus on creating friendships and a further support network. I met everyone at Billy Winters, a lovely little cafe/restaurant in Weymouth overlooking the beach, where we were to take some photos for promotional flyers and social media.

It was a beautiful day to spend some time at the beach! No denying it was a bit chilly, but the sun shone the whole time. Before any pictures, we were supplied with some food and drinks - those of us who had them can definitely vouch for the pizzas… They were pretty good! A lovely lady called Laura was in charge, and her colleague Emma was also on shoot to work with me in getting the required shots and help direct people when necessary. A lovely pair of ladies to work with.

The intention was to get a mix of natural shots, some shots that were more staged to fit certain criteria for related slogans, and a few portraits of some of the members.

It was a really lovely shoot to work on. Everyone was very friendly and had a lot of fun together, and after only a couple of hours shooting, we were all done for the day. It was a joy to work with such a great bunch. I can’t wait to see some of them in use!

Thank you to Laura and Emma, and the members of People First Dorset, for having me down and for a wonderful afternoon filled with lots of smiles and laughter.
