My last job before Christmas 2024 was a shoot for the cover art of Paige Monroe’s next single, Angel. Paige gave me a reference image of which mainly referred to the high-end airbrush style editing along with the style of graphics she was looking for in the final image. The information I had was that a black background was necessary and the colour theme for the song was blue, so took what I thought I would need (and a little extra to cover all bases).
Paige did her own makeup and hair, and brought the some little fairy lights to use around her head in the way pictured. I decided to go with a fairly simple 2 light setup using an octobox with grid to light Paige, and a light with a reflector dish pointing directly at the backdrop to create this ‘halo’ or spot effect around her. I also used my black mist diffusion filter to soften the lights in the image. After I’d done my retouch (above image), I sent this off to Paige who forwarded it on to her graphic designer, and once he’d worked his magic too, we ended up with this beautiful result.
